Walking slowly towards the edge of a cliff I stand, finally looking at the fog and grayness below. Bracing myself against a few small rocks and roots I curl my toes and jump. I am unprepared for the love and the life I must face now As I fall through the darkness and into your arms. You catch me, laughing as if everything's going to be okay. But it's not, and we both know that. I must go soon, and you will stay there forever Looking up at the sky, waiting for someone else to fall for you. Oh, what it must be like to be happy. Happiness is so elusive for me. I disappear into the grayness Leaving the only life I ever knew behind And venturing out into the unknown. You refuse to follow me, preferring instead to wait. I know you're happy, but you must understand That the only thing that brings me true happiness Is the adventure and exploration of my soul Without which I would be forever rooted in despair. Please understand that where I go, you may choose not to follow But always remember that I love you And that I'll be forever looking backward To see if you have decided to join me.
